NATIONAL MOTHER DAY 2007

Buddhism NATIONAL MOTHER DAY.

ON 12 of AUGUST of every year is represented the QUEEN SIRIKIT BIRTHDAY.

THAI government promoted this day to be THE NATIONAL MOTHER DAY.

Wat Buddhamahamunee of Arlington will have a cerebration on 12 AUGUST 2007 for a national mother day. With the following programs:



PROGRAM

Sunday, August 12, 2007

10:30 a.m. Chanting and offer food to monks

11:00 a.m. Monks take lunch

12:00 p.m. All devotees have Lunch

1:00 p.m. A sermon on the significance of national Mother Day

1:30 p.m. Monk wills giving teaching Dhamma talk for National mother day.

2:00 p.m. The leader will proceed with opening of parking lot.

2:30 p.m. Djern



May the merit I make to day be worthy of allowing my ancestors to find their eternal peace. May the contribution I make today bring me good wishes and be the factor for reaching the nibbana in the future

ASALHA PUJA DAY is the day on which the Lord Buddha gave the first sermon, called Dhammacakkappavatta Sutta to the five disciples on the full-moon day of the eighth lunar month at the Deer Park in Benares, India. It was on this day that Anyakonthanya, one of the first five disciples

of the Lord Buddha, attained Arahantaship right after having heard this first sermon, and asked to become fully ordained as a Buddhist monk. The Lord Buddha performed, as requested, the Ehibhikkhu Uppasampadha for Anyakonthanya, thus becoming the first fully ordained monk. It was on this day that the Triple Gem was born, i.e. the first existence of the Buddha, the Dhamma and the Sangha. It was the day after the sermon that the Lord Buddha started spending the three month Lent at the Deer park. This was proclaimed the Buddhist Lent Koa Pansa Day.
